Events

Our chapter of Chi Delta Theta strives to endorse our five main points. Every year we organize certain events to help promote these ideals that our founders established.

Lantern Festival

Lantern Festival is an event co-hosted by Omega Xi Delta and our chapter of Chi Delta Theta. It is held in the Springtime and includes various cultural performances, games, and a fashion show. Normally held on the Cal Poly campus, both Omegas and Chi Delts work hard all day to decorate the University Union Plaza with lights and flags representing the Asian and Pacific Islander cultures. We also invite all the other cultural organizations on campus to set up booths to sell cultural food rarely found in the city. Best of all, the event is free for all students and commnity members. Often times our other chapters come out to support us and participate in the festivities. Performances range from dances to songs to drumming or step shows. This event is aimed to bring awareness to Asian and Pacific Islander cultures and to encourage all other cultural orgs to showcase the diversity that Cal Poly brings.

Asian Pacific Islander Commencement

API is held at the end of the year near Spring graduation. We host a specific commencement for Asian Pacific Islanders and invite all the graduating seniors of any cultural organization to participate. During this event we recognize all the graduating seniors and provide food and guest speakers to present people with awards as well as recognize any special achievements. Because the ceremony is significantly smaller than the college commencements, this allows friends and family members to see their loved ones stand out. Anyone is allowed to come and there is no admission or fee to participate.
